At Laser Center of South Florida, we want you to feel comfortable about the processes we use for hair removal. We know the more you understand about your experience, the more likely you are to feel great about the results! Read on to see exactly what is involved.
The Initial Telephone
When you call, we will ask a few questions concerning the area of unwanted hair (such as coarseness and color of the hair). This will allow us to set up a free consultation for either Electrolysis or Laser Hair Removal. Sometimes it is necessary to see the treatment area in order to decide the best modality for you.
The FREE Consultation
During your consultation, you will first fill out a medical history form. This allows the practitioner to determine if there are any possible medical reasons for the hair growth. If there is a medical reason, we cannot prevent new hair growth, only remove present growth. The practitioner will explain the process and answer any questions you may have. You and the practitioner decide which treatment will best suit your needs, Electrolysis or Laser.
The Spot Test
If Laser Hair Removal is the best choice, the next step will be a spot test. A spot test is a test to determine your skin’s reaction to the laser. Based on your skin type and hair color, we will adjust the laser to get the best results. The spot test allows us to treat the area as aggressively as possible without damaging the skin.
The Treatment
Our medical director will review your chart for medications being taken or for any medical conditions that would prevent you from being a candidate for laser treatments. The first treatment is scheduled a minimum of 48 hours to one week after the spot test. The duration of each treatment depends on the area being treated. Smaller areas take less than 2 minutes, and larger areas can take as long as 2 hours. Most people will need a minimum of 6 treatments. Treatments are scheduled 6 to 8 weeks apart.
